How To Improve Your Saving Habits

Budgeting my finances has to be one of the most difficult tasks in which I must engage. I admit, I used to be a “compulsive buyer;” if it’s on sale and I have the money, I’m probably spending the whole thing. Here I will share with you some of the tips that have helped me establish a good saving habits. Regular saving is an important part of managing your money.

Implement a lifestyle shift.
Think of these adjustments as a way to improve other aspects of your lifestyle, like your health. Eating a healthy salad to work helps you stay away from junky fast food. Walking from building to building doubles as exercise and saves gas or cab fare. Ease into your new lifestyle by scheduling splurge days you ca look forward to.

Challenge yourself.
Se goals to help you focus on your priorities. Be specific. Say,”By December 2007, I will save at least P30,000.” Know exactly what you’ll do with your money, whether it’s depositing it in your account or blowing it on a well-deserved vacation.

Make a budget
It’s not bad as it sounds. You can still treat yourself once in a while, but choose your “rewards” wisely. Take into account the cost, risk, and benefits of every potential purchase to kill the initial “I have to have it” impulsive rush.

Don’t obsess over what you what - and don’t have.
Sine you won’t see the results of your sacrifices overnight, it’s easy to lose the drive and abandon your goals. Allow your savings to grow over time. Just remember that every bit of change counts.
