Yo soy Betty, la fea (I am Betty, the ugly one) also known as “Betty la Fea” (Ugly Betty), was a popular Columbian telenovela or soap opera. (Wikipedia)
Betty is the show’s main character. She is an unattractive but intelligent woman who works at a fashion design company called Eco Moda. Betty constantly faces the scorn of her prettier workmates, but eventually she is promoted to a senior job, becomes involved with her boss, and gets a makeover.
Betty la Fea was made popular in the Philippines by GMA network. It was dubbed in Tagalog. It was also re-aired in Studio 23.
Currently, the ABS-CBN Network are searching for the the perfect actress to play Betty la Fea. They were considering Regine Velasquez, Valerie Concepcion, Mariel Rodriguez, Bea Alonso, Anne Curtis, Toni Gonzaga, and Bianca Gonzalez. I’m voting for Bea Alonso to play the part because she’s a great actress and she can pull off any roles. I also wanted Bea because John Lloyd will most likely play Armando Mendoza, who is the smart, handsome, and well educated son of one of the two owners and founders of the company, Eco Moda. When I’ve seen this Youtube Video - KC Concepcion as Betty La Fea in the Philippines (Thanks to miao for sharing!), I think KC Concepcion may really pull this off. She’s the “It Girl” right now and this can be her major break in ABS-CBN.
Betty la fea has been so successful that it has been either adapted and/or shown in many different countries. The story seems to be attractive and original because it revolves around an unattractive person in contrast with most soap operas where the stars are always good looking.
Update:
At last, I’m right, Betty La Fea will be played by Bea Alonzo and Armado will be played by John Lloyd Cruz. Predictable…but they fit the roles. Looking forward to watch this on Primetime Bida on Abs-Cbn.

Dapat si Regine Velasquez ang dapat gumanap na Betty La Fea kasi I’m sure mabibigyan niya ng justice ang role.Ang character ng Lead role ay larawan ng isang matured woman kaya dapat lamang na si Regine Velasquez ang kunin para mag match yung character niya sa magiging leading man niya which is Gabby Concepcion.pangit naman kung sa bata bata pang aktres ibibigay ang role kasi hindi magma’match sa possible na leading man.So I suggest na si Regine Velasquez ang kunin at hindi si Bea.Im the avid fan of Bea but hindi bagay sa kanya ang role.

bea alonzo is the right actress to be betty la fea because she got all,she is versatille. Have many talents to be shared in many audiences,got a cool attitude. Many had wish but she is the best one that will play the role. And to those who is envy with bea they such a loser because you’r just ambition is rotten for wishing.

I agree 2 u guys,hndi bgay c jake cuenca s role n armando kc hndi cla bgay ni bea.I think it would be much better c john lloyd nlng ulit kc bgay n bgay cy maging armando, i have seen him & bea in 1 soap b4 c bea sec dn ni john lloyd and bagay n bgay talaga c john lloyd n mgsungit at mambulyaw as armando mendoza did in betty la fea columbia version.& remember carry ni john lloyd ang mg eye glass.
